I’d love to know abit about your colour palettes Helen. How you get to them, do you go through a moodboarding process? Do you work with publisher or do they leave you to it? Is there lots of experimenting and playing with materials? I find your colours are always so ‘right’, and warm and nostalgic too. They hit just the right note. Might be an interesting podcast ep at some point! (Apologies if there is already one I’ve missed!!) x

Hi Helen!

I've just signed up to The Good Ship business course which has led me to your wonderful Substack (absolutely loving both and can't wait for Module 2 on the course already).

I'm just wondering what scanner you use? I use the built in one on my canon printer and find quite often that the quality isn't great despite setting it to a higher resolution. Your recommendations would be so appreciated.

Thank you in advance and looking forward to learning lots more!

Gaby

Ooh this is super interesting! So nice to see your sketches Helen 🩷 I have Affinity photo but need to learn to use it! I wonder if you can replace colours like on photoshop?

Oo I love this Helen! ❤️ I love seeing you make lots of little bits that you can use together, it makes me feel much less terrified of having to redo a whole image from scratch! such a brilliant post 🌟

Nothing worse than restarting again and again and killing all that first draft energy!
