🍂 🍂🍁🍁🦇🦇
We lit the stove the other night, the origami bats are roosting in their branch and the early morning sunshine is landing on the Good Ship flags, so it must be autumn! I like doing stuff with my hands on dark autumn evenings, it’s that cosy hobby time of year.

Good Ship Art Club drawings
These were all drawn upside-down, only revealing the full horror when I turned them the right way up 😂😱.

I think they might be the best self portraits I have ever done.
I am not joking.
There is something very exciting about doing a drawing where there is an obstacle that gets you out of your own way. Do you know what I mean? Even in the mirror, we don’t know exactly what we look like to other people.
This tasks stops you attempting an exact likeness, and something way more exciting appears.
The one below looks like me - me as a scary, psychopathic game show host.
If you missed Art Club and fancy making some truly terrifying self portraits to give your family for Christmas, you can catch up here.
The most important topic of the week: This 1980’s hand knitted ’ski jumper’ jumper I found in a charity shop

It is waaaay too big for me, but it was only £4, and I COULD NOT resist those wonky legs and ski goggles. It had to come home with me.
I haven’t tried it on yet because I am worried that my Lady Di ‘off-piste’ dreams will be dashed. I am hoping that with leggings and pixie boots I will look like an extra from the Wham Christmas video.🤞
When I try it on you will be the first to know. I will take a pic and you will judge: Lady Di or Christopher Biggins? Watch this space.
It’s October, so it’s time for a new #walktosee prompt!
#walktosee is to celebrate drawings made from life on location.

Dark nights call for cozy hobbies

Pie and I have been doing some lino cutting at the kitchen table. We have enjoyed chatting while we chip away at the lino. I wish I could do a big reveal of the outcome but we got distracted by New Zealand Traitors 😂. We’ll print the final layer this week and I’ll show you what we made in the next Sunday Buffet.
What do you get up to on these dark evenings? Keep it PG (or maybe don’t 😜🔥) Thank you.

If you’d found your jumper earlier it could have been a contender for a wedding dress… it’s a masterpiece. As are the upside down portraits. I totally agree re crafting, but last autumn I started making rag rugs with such gusto that I think I’ve permanently damaged my drawing hand… who knew crafts could be so treacherous… look after those digits!
I remember doing upside down portraits in art at high school... 35 years ago! Fantastic to see you doing it. I'm going to introduce this to my children on our October half term holiday next week.
Question: How did you make your origami hanging bats?
