Tomorrow I am doing a big live World Book Day event, beaming into schools everywhere.
The lovely folks at the Children’s Book Show invited me to do a nationwide live-stream on World Book Day. I’ll be reading, drawing and doing daft stuff with thousands, of children all over the UK!
This show is for years 1 and 2 and starts at 9.30 am (uk time) on 7th March, that’s TOMORROW 🥳.
I’ll give a sneaky peek of my new book (out this summer) Smelly Peggy. Peggy herself might even make an appearance 🤫.
It’s not too late, you can book now!
Bring your class or the whole school for just £10
You don’t even have to organise a school coffee morning, or hold a sponsored ‘Pie the caretaker’! The head teacher will have a tenner in their cardigan pocket. Just tip them upside down, give them a shake, and bingo.
(I am not advocating bullying of head teachers. Or caretakers).
Fellow authory/ illustratory types: are you visiting a school for World Book Day?
I recorded a podcast with my pals at The Good Ship Illustration all about visiting schools, here it is.
Fellow kid wranglers: what are your littl’uns doing for World Book Day? What does their school like to do? Is it ‘come as a children’s book character day?’
Bye till tomorrow, Helenx
This looks like it'll be fun Helen! Exhausting, but fun 😆
My son's school had a virtual session with Michael Rosen on Monday, wish I could have snuck into that! We're lucky that his school is flexible with WBD dressing-up, it's encouraged but not compulsory and kids can come in mufti if they like. I'd prefer kids focus on books rather than stressing about the costume, but my son has always been keen to dress-up so I go with it! He's reusing the same costume as last year, 'Looshkin - The Maddest Cat in the World!'
Have a great day tomorrow Helen!
Hi Helen! Will your World Book Day Event be recorded?
