Ah! I’ve made a weird little drawn catalogue of my clothes too - and it helps with the efforts to try to curb my inner consumerist monster. The ultimate version would be every garment as a magnet and a metal board dedicated to outfit design 😂 - but that might be the monster talking again.
Loving Ludwig also… And for a good YouTube moment seek out Kim Krans’ ‘Choking The Bear’ (no actual bears harmed I promise) it’s a listen rather than a watch so you can make notes, draw or do magnetic outfit planning while it’s on…
Definitely agog for more wardrobe news! My most-watched YouTube video is probably the ratchet-strap tutorial but I can see the appeal is narrow... also found an InDesign tutorial narrated by a Finn whose soothing words put me in such a trance I didn't learn anything but it was kind of like having a massage.
Yes please to the wardrobe drawing! I was fascinated years ago when some wonderful illustrator--I've forgotten who now--Maira Kalman mayyybe??--painted pictures of the things she wanted to buy, in order to own them without buying anything. This feels somehow akin...channelling our desires and also appreciation of what's already in the closet.... Anyhow your post today is overwhelmingly full of excellent bits. Thanks for a Monday pick-me-up!
Oh what a good idea! There is something about drawing the things you own that imbues them with special meaning and makes them even more special. I had never thought of drawing the things I DON’T buy. What a good idea.
PS--I once adapted that "drawing what you covet" idea to my own project of drawing beloved objects that I've lost over the years. It was so cathartic and healing! And so fun. That couture red dress I wore once and then a grasping landlord stole and sold after I left it in a closet when I moved...That journal of dreams that got nicked when someone broke into my car...My great gran's red silk scarf that mysteriously disappeared...You get the idea :)
What a brilliant idea. Drawing the journal of dreams! Wow! I love that idea. Did you draw the journal or the dreams? I draw childhood memories to anchor them with even more weight into my psyche.
I once lost a new hairbrush when I was a child. It slipped out of my window and onto a roof, just beyond reach. It became the most precious thing in the world, I even thought it had magic powers. I must draw that!
So happy that salty dog books are coming! I've been watching Samson Boat company on YouTube, where he restores a century old, HUGE yacht which I think he bought originally for £1 - amazing skills and dedication. It might be inspiring for Salty stories!
Yes, love this theme of clothes. I may dare to draw my wardrobe. I actually have a kind of dressing up box for clothes to use as props for artworks. On the Le Redoute French theme, I enjoy Justine Le Conte on You Tube. She explains some basics about fashion, with notes on how to follow the French style!
I love the wardrobe drawing very much. My mindless youtube watching is daily life vlogs from Japanese women living in micro apartments, I find it fascinating, my partner thinks it's creepy haha. They generally have English subtitles and soothing (free to use) background music but sometimes there are no subtitles. I'm not sure what it is about them, maybe fantasy about being alone in a tiny home away from the chaos of my life!
Fellow Couples Therapy fan here!! I binge watched an entire season last year while working on some painting projects. It’s so fascinating and good, the people need to know!
I've been drawing all the clothes I've sold on Vinted, very satisfying!☺️ My YouTube binges are Nicki Positano and The Chateau Diaries, I love seeing how other people live! x

Oh imagine the drawings as magnets! It would be a bit like those paper dolls with clothes! 😍
Thanks for the YouTube recommendations, will take a look!

Ha! I must admit I never watched a ratchet strap tutorial, I know, weird! 😂
Honestly you have no idea what you’re missing! 😂😂

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll definitely check those out.
I just watched A Man Called Otto, which made me cry, but was very good (with Tom Hanks) now watching Wilderness series, which is great so far.
I watched it last night! It made me cry too. Wilderness? I will look it up. Is it a drama?
Yes, a lady getting revenge on her cheating husband. Two episodes in and it’s good :)
100% would appreciate wardrobe updates. Learned the word 'gillet/gilet' via your post today!
Oh did I spell it wrong? 😑 I bet I did. When we were kids we called them body warmers, seems a lot more straight forward 😂
I found it spelled both ways! Not a word I've heard in the US but will now sprinkle willy-nilly when shopping for clothing. ;D
One of my children used to call them ‘Juliés’ (joooooleee-ays) so now that’s what we call them!
Love that! Very fancy sounding! :)
Haha! It is !

Oh I will look up Justine right now, before anyone in my house wakes up- secret YouTube time

Ha! I must give those a watch! I am pretty obsessed with tours around typical Russian apartments. I am basically very nosy.
Loved this <3 These are such warm, cosy updates.
How amazing is it that Salty Dog gets a book! Congratulations!
And I already binged every episode of Ludwig weeks ago, hahaha! Seriously, I don't know anyone who can keep up with my detective telly watching :D
Of course! I should have guessed you would have gobbled up Ludvig long before I even knew it existed! HA! Did you enjoy it? Was I right? 🤓
You know me very well: it was my favourite of the year!
I love the draw your wardrobe idea - thank you. Perfect for easy sketching when I’m too tired to create a picture but want to draw something.
Wow to Gerry’s print cabin and amazing whale prints. They are fabulous and I’m now a follower there too.
Go Helen and Katie with a combined book(s). That will be awesome .

It’s so good!
I also loved Ludwig! And I'd love to hear more about your wardrobe drawing project, what a great idea 💡
I’m glad you said that! More wardrobe stuff next time.
Love the Goodship Podcast!!!
Ah thank you 🤩 We love making them in Tania’s kitchen
I love Baumgartner Restauration on YouTube. Also Hippy Highland Living and Exploring Alternatives 🥰
Ah thanks for the suggestions, I will take a look 😍
After years of watching Baumgartner I‘m pretty confident I could restaurate an old masters painting myself 😆
A big moustache in marker pen. Done ☑️ 😂
😂
I've been drawing all the clothes I've sold on Vinted, very satisfying!☺️ My YouTube binges are Nicki Positano and The Chateau Diaries, I love seeing how other people live! x
Oh I need to look up your YouTubers, yes maybe we are just nosy 😂
Love the YT recs, I will check out all of them. 💕❤
