The good thing about drawing at the pool on holiday is that people are sitting (lying down) targets 😂☀️
☝️ I liked drawing the man with the bald head and the baby. He was a delight to draw. And the woman in the pool with the gorgeous shapely back.
☝️For this one I drew with more speed, quickly capturing the woman holding the baby - I loved drawing her carrying all her weight on one leg. But I liked drawing the woman bending over her sun bed best. That dangling boob shape 👌
☝️ This was fun. I like the man far left best, but also the paddle board woman was a challenge and I like a challenge. The woman right of the gutter walked so fast I just scribbled a super quick likeness. I like it when there are different speeds of drawing on one page.
☝️ The man with the bald head and tummy. What a treat to draw! Also the super fast sketches of the woman putting sun cream on her friend.
☝️ This is what I brought with me. Three Blackwing pencils, some CaranD’ache Luminance pencils and some Derwent Inktense pencils. I might crack out the colour tomorrow.
The sketchbook is a Pith, a bit bigger than A5. They are lovely to draw in. Nice textured, off white paper.
These are the books I brought, I have finished Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow - it was fantastic! The best book I have ever read on life and creativity. I finished The Giver in two sittings (sandwiched between a breakfast of chocolate almond milk, a lunch of Greek Omelette with chips, and dinner of ‘bits from the local supermarket’. I loved it.
I will start Monsters when it gets dark this evening and the cicadas start chirping (rattling?).
Oh and by the way we have a view of three Scops Owls from our balcony. They are there when we wake up and we watch them bobbing about after sunset. They make a hoot like an electric signal, a bit like sonar.
Wish you were here!
Love Helen
PS. Here’s a few snaps of the fam.
These sketches are great! Thank you for sharing your process :)
